The Gastro.bar serves up bar snacks and dishes from all corners of the world in a lovely waterside location on Javaeiland.

From sushi to Sunday roast

On the menu are varied dishes inspired by all kinds of national cuisines &ndash: think Spanish mackerel Escabeche, Hawaaian ribeye or smoked stilton. On Fridays, sushi is being prepared on the spot, while Sundays &ndash: for now &ndash: have been taken over by that great British tradition of the Sunday roast. And if the weather permits, all this can be enjoyed on a rather glorious waterside terrace.

Colourful history, modern food

The Javaeiland has a rich history: first a site of Dutch colonial expansion as the Netherlands line ran services to the Dutch East Indies from here: later home to the squatter movement: now trendy residential area boasting colourful and varied modern architecture. The Gastro.bar&rsquo:s international dishes reflect this history while also hoping to serve as a welcome culinary addition to the locals.
